Mini Hereford Cattle
Miniature Hereford cattle are a smaller, more manageable version of the traditional Hereford breed, known for their docile nature, easy handling, and efficient feed conversion. Despite their compact size, they maintain the classic Hereford appearance—rich red bodies with white faces and markings.
Katahdin Hair Sheep
Katahdin Hair Sheep are a hardy, low-maintenance breed known for their ability to thrive in diverse climates without the need for shearing. Unlike wool sheep, they naturally shed their coats each spring, making them an ideal choice for producers seeking ease of care.
The Farm
Tucked away in Springfield, Tennessee, TNT Mini Hereford Farm is a family-run operation rooted in a shared dream and a genuine love for animals. From its beginnings on 20 acres, the farm has grown into a carefully managed operation dedicated to quality livestock and attentive care, proudly calling 1474 Lawrence Lane home.
Why Choose Mini Herefords?
Hereford beef offers an exceptional eating experience, known for its tenderness, juiciness, rich flavor, and overall satisfaction. It’s the kind of quality people remember from the first bite.
Beyond the plate, Herefords are adaptable and efficient cattle. Originating in England, they thrive in a wide range of environments, including the hills of Tennessee. Their natural efficiency and moderate feed needs make them a practical, land-friendly choice.
Mini Herefords carry these strengths forward in a smaller, more efficient package. They are easy to handle, require fewer resources, and fit well with today’s focus on sustainability.
TNT Mini Hereford Farm is a small, family-run operation built from a shared dream and a love for animals. What began on 20 acres with a passion for mini cows and Katahdin sheep has grown into a program focused on high-quality Miniature Herefords and Katahdin hair sheep. We are committed to raising happy, healthy livestock suited for breeding, showing, and family-friendly farms.
Our breeding program centers on dependable, hardworking cattle. We raise cows that calve yearly, nurture strong calves, and produce ample milk, along with bulls that remain sound, healthy, and capable across varied terrain.
Strong structure, longevity, and balance are priorities, along with eye appeal. Our cattle are built to perform in the pasture and stand out in the show ring.
We aim for mature cows to reach 45 to 48 inches and bulls around 48 inches, creating a manageable size that is efficient on the land while still providing excellent beef yield.
Mini Herefords, also known as Classic Herefords, offer the same renowned quality in more practical portions, with flavorful, tender cuts well-suited for today’s families.
They are also known for their calm, friendly nature. We halter-break and handle each calf early to ensure they transition smoothly into their new homes.
Our goal is simple: to raise cattle that perform well, produce outstanding beef, and are a pleasure to own. Mini Herefords bring all of that together in one well-rounded breed.
About the Owners
Every farm has a story—and behind each one is a family devoted to the land, the lifestyle, and the animals that call it home. This is our story.
Years ago, a suburban girl married a rural boy. The boy had always dreamed of becoming a farmer. One day, the couple spoke with a neighbor who had land for sale. Twenty acres with creek frontage—truly the stuff dreams are made of. They signed on the dotted line.
As luck (or fate) would have it, their family veterinarian happened to love talking about his sheep. After long, stressful days at the clinic, he would sit in the field and commune with them. He told us how “funny” they were, how easy they were to care for, and how they soothed his soul. It sounded like the perfect fit for two new farmers starting their journey.
Then, as if by destiny, the couple's neighbor—who didn’t know about the suburban girl’s long-standing fascination with miniature cows—needed to rehome a small herd. She had talked for years about wanting mini cows, only to be told by her farm-loving husband that they needed a farm first. Well, now they had one.
And so, the story of TNT Mini Farm began—home to registered Miniature Hereford cattle and Katahdin hair sheep.
Our mission is to lovingly care for every creature on our farm. We aim to invest in the best Katahdin and Miniature Hereford stock we can afford, with the goal of offering high-quality breeding stock, show animals, and beloved family pets to those who share our passion.
If our goals align with yours, we’d love for you to visit the farm—or to help you find the right animals for your own.
Breed Facts:
“Purebred Miniature Herefords are free of the dwarf gene and are registered with the American Hereford Association (AHA), just like their large counterparts; and their pedigrees within the AHA trace all the way back to when Hereford cattle first set foot on American soil.”
— Miniature Hereford Breeders Association®
“Miniature Herefords, because of their smaller size, are much easier to handle compared to large cattle. They require less space for comfortable living quarters and they eat far less food. Because of this, they make great backyard pets and can even help you to obtain agricultural tax-exempt status.”
— Miniature Hereford Breeders Association®
“Extremely docile in nature, the Minis are excellent for children or even the young at heart. A superb 4-H or FFA animal, they can help instill responsibility and a sense of accomplishment in a youngster.”
